You might remember that the Pokémon Company announced a few weeks ago that it was planning to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pokémon with the release of a special collection of Pokémon TCG, considering that the card game also debuted 25 years ago. When the original announcement was released, the company offered information on this line, but did not share more about the illustrations or designs. Well, more details were released today and highlight the reissue of the cards with Pikachu’s most famous illustrations.

Through a press release, The Pokémon Company revealed some designs that will feature the cards that will be part of the Celebrations collection. Weeks ago, he shared the art of the packaging, but did not reveal the illustrations for the lettering.

We can now see the special cards that will include packs inspired by Sylveon, Charizard, Dragapult and Zacian. Likewise, we can take a look at the two special cards that will be included in the pack that will also contain the character Gigantamax Pikachu (or Gigantamax, in Spanish).

Unforgettable Pikachu messages will be reissued

Thanks to the official material, it is allowed to see that the Pikachu V-Union pack will include 4 special cards from this new line that features cards that must be combined to form a giant and is very powerful Exodia-style, from Yu-Gi-Oh!. The interesting thing is that this set, which can only be obtained in this bundle, will include 25 Pikachu, each drawn by famous artists who have contributed to Pokémon TCG in the last 25 years, such as, Matsuhiro Arita (illustrator of over 600 cards) and Atsuko Nishida Same, the original designer of Pikachu.

As mentioned, it has already been confirmed that there will be Spanish versions of these sets and packages and they will have an official distribution in Latin America.

However, the most striking thing is that, at least for Japan, within this group will undoubtedly be a reissue of the Pikachu cards, because, as you can see in the pictures below, subtle changes in art will occur by method. It’s a bit of a renovation, but it maintains the original essence that made earlier illustrations famous.

The return card has been confirmed to be Pikachu from the base deck. This style will keep the art style, but the background includes some changes, like Pokémon looming. The designs that attract the most attention are those of the special Flying Pikachu and Surf cards, which will be back in a slightly renewed style and will also have V and V-Max versions, which stand out because the Pokémon is huge in size and you can check it out because it’s bigger than a ship and a plane.

Will All 25th Annual Pikachu Cards Arrive in the West?

As you can see, these last characters do not appear in the images of the first gallery or will have a translated version in Spanish. Letter numbering contrasts with information for Western editions.

In the press release, The Pokémon Company talked about Celebration Upgrade Packs, which will each include 4 cards «customized to a select group of characters from all regions of the Pokémon world» (the total number has not been determined). He also talked about a «special subset of 25 re-released cards, which will faithfully copy some of the original’s most popular cards» from Pokémon TCG.

In case you missed it: This is how the Pokémon TCG Hoarders depleted in the store.

However, as mentioned, the numbering on the other cards indicates that the deck will consist of 25 cards and another will be 15. It does not rule out the presence of changes in the series for Japan and the West. However, it looks like the celebrations will be the one that will consist of 28 cards. An additional 25 iconic cards will be reissued, without much change, such as Pikachu’s Birthday and Venusaurus (the base deck). For every 4 envelopes purchased, a consumer will be able to receive 1 envelope with a 25th anniversary letter at the Pokémon Center in Japan, according to information from Bukebsch.

According to the official Pokémon TCG Japanese page, Pikachu cards will be included in the expansion packs for the 25th Anniversary Collection. The official Pokemon Company of the West page did not mention anything about it.

Finally, the golden Pikachu card and the one containing the cake will be included in the supposed celebration gold chest. We have already told you about this chest, which will include a wonderful golden pikachu card and one buckyball. This version will cost $119.99, but unfortunately it’s not included in the Latin American version, so it probably won’t make it to this region. You can see its content below.
