Although we love Japan, it is undeniable that it is a country with very particular ideas, many of which can be very controversial and the subject of debate in the West. For the same reason, with anime becoming increasingly popular around the world, some fans have already expressed concern that production companies will start censoring their work for fear of complaints from other countries. However, a recognized figure in the industry assures that this is not the case.

What happens is that Gigguk, a famous content creator specializing in Japanese animation and culture, uploaded a video to his YouTube channel of visiting the prestigious JCSTAFF animation studio, which was behind high-profile productions like hello score girl And the second season of one man punch.

There, Gigguk had the opportunity to discuss various topics with Atsushi Fujishiro, the famous producer of one man punch s food wars. Without a doubt, the moment that caught the video’s attention the most was when it was discussed about the influence of Western fan opinions on the way animation was created in Japan.

Atsushi Fujishiro: We don’t make changes for foreigners

Thus, Gigguk asked Atsushi Fujishiro if they take into account the opinions of foreign fans to develop new animation projects, in which the producer stated that Western complaints do not cause significant changes in the way they work or in style.

“When I think about it, the Japanese anime style is always well received abroad. So instead of changing things outside, we just stick to our own style. While we are aware of their opinions, we generally don’t make changes for the sake of foreigners,” commented Atsushi Fujishiro.

It is certainly interesting to discover that, at least in the case of JCSTAFF, the opinions of Western fans do not influence the production of their projects. Of course, we don’t know if this scenario is repeated in other anime roles, as well as in the manga and video game industry.

But tell us, what do you think of this situation? Do you think it is permissible for production companies not to take the opinions of foreigners into account? Let’s read to you in the comments.
